Your Soul Has a Mission

Tabitha MacDonald Episode 65

The difference between life purpose and a soul mission can feel subtle until it changes everything. Purpose is the daily practice of becoming more loving and sovereign. A soul mission is the sacred assignment that feels too big, too risky, and somehow exactly right. I share how a string of intuitive nudges—some arriving at the most ordinary moments—pushed me beyond a successful clinic and into the messier, braver work of building something that didn’t yet exist. Along the way, I got lost in branding detours, wrestled with timelines that made me miserable, and learned to trust guidance that paid in faith long before it paid in cash.

To keep the work light and brave, I invite you to think like an undercover agent of light. You only ever get part of the brief, and that’s by design. Each of us carries a piece of a cosmic puzzle; when you place yours—through a podcast, a painting, a business, or the way you love your family—someone else can finally place theirs. If your heart lit up reading this, that spark is enough to begin. Hit play, grab your Enneagram type, and step toward the thing that scares and excites you. If this conversation moved you, subscribe, leave a review, and share it with a friend who needs the nudge. Your piece matters.

SPEAKER_00:

Have you ever had a calling, a vision, a dream that keeps tugging at you from the back of your mind? That's what happened to me in 2020. I started having visions of a bigger dream, a bigger mission on the planet than what I'd already created. I was already running a very beautiful and um service-oriented massage clinic. And when I started having this bigger vision, it was a little terrifying, I'm not gonna lie. Nothing about it was logical. And my ego, my conscious mind, it did not agree with this bigger mission. I mean, at first, I'm not gonna lie, it was kind of exciting. And I like set out on the journey like any good um person on their spiritual path, with a lot of enthusiasm, excitement, a lot of fear, but it was overridden by hope and purpose. But I didn't prepare for the fact that it was going to be the hardest journey of my life because it wasn't just purpose alignment, it was mission alignment. Your soul has a purpose, right? Every time I do a purpose meditation, I always see my family, I see my massage clinic, I see my online business, I see the podcast actually is number one that I always see on my soul's purpose. And I see myself, you know, making an impact on the planet, leaving it better than I found it. And when I'm in purpose, it's always like it's just to spread more love and joy everywhere I go. Like that's I'm a type seven on the Enneagram. We're gonna talk a lot about the Enneagram and what that has to do with this. Uh, so if you haven't taken your Enneagram test, personally, I like the truity one. You'll get your results. You don't have to put your email in. You'll just see the number and it'll give you a good starting place. But if you haven't done that, I should be building a quiz out soon. But also, I'm a seven, so that might not happen. So I don't want to stall us with hopes and promises of an Enneagram seven quiz or an Enneagram quiz coming. Um, so right now I like to use the Trudy one. There's a bunch of free ones online. Figure out what your Enneagram type is um because it's gonna help you for the next several episodes, but it's more importantly, it's just gonna help you in life. Um, it's I've done other episodes on the Enneagram. I'm gonna do a lot more on the Enneagram because it's part of my soul's mission uh to educate people about it and why you should know and understand it uh to help you create your soul's mission on the planet. So purpose is not the same thing as your soul's mission. And I think this is where a lot of people get it wrong. And the mission is the thing that's gonna scare the bejesus out of you. It's something bigger than you. It's this sacred assignment that's terrifying. And it, I'm not talking like horror film terrifying. I mean, oh my god, how many ego deaths am I gonna have to go through to complete my soul's mission? And it's the one that ignites excitement, but also fear at the same time. It's like, I don't know, um, where you you it's just where you feel a sense of excitement and then the fear overrides it, saying, That's not for me. I must have picked up somebody else's thought form. That's not mine. I remember I was at a Lindsay Sterling concert when I was, I think it was 2021, and she's this beautiful violinist, and I bought my friend Josh tickets for his birthday. And I had a big intuitive awakening, and I was not used to having intuition be online. I I did not understand these new like voices in my head. And I'm not talking about like schizophrenic voices, I mean divine voices that that were saying nice things like you're capable of this, and um, your light is beautiful, and remember who you are, and just things that were more like I don't know, someone took like an inspirational quote book and like downloaded into my brain overnight, and I was used to the one that was not so nice. And Lindsay Sterling was on stage, and she's a a beautiful musician, and she has a very unique brand where she likes to dress up like a pirate and a fairy and go on stage and play the violin, like she's the head of a rock band, and she has dancers, and it's a really cool experience if you've never seen it. But she was on stage and she was talking to the crowd. And remember back in 2021, like we're just coming out of COVID. I don't even think we were out of COVID fully. And she just, it was like she was speaking directly to me, and she said, you know, those voices in your head, maybe they're not lying, and maybe you should listen. And I literally felt like it was just her and I standing in this giant auditorium, and I was like, How did she know? And she started talking about her journey to bringing this different style of violin music to the world and how she spent 10 years in LA failing and struggling, but she had a vision of something different, and she didn't give up on it. And then one day she started to be successful. And it and it wasn't that one day she was successful, she had 10 years of failing before she found that that breakthrough moment. And I could so relate to that experience. And I was like, kept thinking something was wrong with me, that you know, I didn't have what I needed to bring this into the world. And that I'm pretty sure that God picked the wrong person. I kept saying that a lot. I was like, I think you picked the wrong person. I am super not capable of doing any of that. And I kept hearing, nope, didn't pick the wrong person. This is your soul's mission, and um, I'm not gonna let you forget it. So as I have evolved my intuition over the last four years, five years, I really had to work through a lot of my own shadows, my own inner demons, and align with the divine plan. And most of the time, every like divine download or transmission, I get whatever you want to call it, it's always like, we're so proud of you. You're doing such a good job. And here I am, like messy hair, haven't brushed it in two days, my house is a mess. And I'm trying to figure out how to use Kajabi to post content and create um a program I've never created before. And all I keep getting in these messages is, you're doing a great job. We're really proud of you. And it's kind of like having a boss upstairs that you can't see, doesn't pay very well. In fact, most of the time skips on payment altogether, but says, keep going, I'll pay you later. And you just have to kind of dive in with a whole bunch of faith that your soul's mission, this thing that wakes you up in the middle of the night, is so important and so big and so supported by the universe, whatever you refer to the universe as. I often call it just the benevolent creator of all that is God, that's how we talk. Um, or sometimes I'll just hear like the divine order of light. Um, the universe is the probably one of the more popular ones, anything that's benevolence of love or above, right? So it's an energy of consciousness that transcends fear and is fully embodying unconditional love. Now, that is definitely all of our purpose in this lifetime is to embody unconditional love and to live freely, creating life on our own terms and remembering that we are a sovereign being and aligning with our higher self and repairing any soul fragmentations that happened during trauma. That is all of our soul's genuine purpose, like at the at the foundation of who we are as human beings. But when you are being called to awaken to your soul's mission, I like to say you're kind of like a 007 for God, like you're like awakening to your super spy self, and you have like a secret mission that only you really know. And it's locked up in your heart. And I like to kind of play around with this because I'm a seven and I think everything should be playful. And I'm like, okay, what's your undercover code name? If you were an agent in the divine order of light, think back to Harry Potter, like the Order of the Phoenix. Like a lot of my insights are like the Order of the Phoenix. And it's like, how do we take down the dark side and be a divine messenger of light? To be a warrior of light. If you ever read Paul Cohilo's um book, he talks about the warrior of light. I see the arena of light in a lot of my visions. Uh, in fact, I incorporate it into a lot of my meditations where you go to the arena of light and you earn your like rewards, your superpowers, your strengths. It's they're really fun adventures and healing is like what I like to call them. But your soul has a mission and it's something bigger than your purpose. Like your purpose is to be love, to be unconditional love, and to spread that everywhere you go. To remember that you're sovereign and that you're free. That's your soul's purpose. Remember that. How you choose to bring that into the world is gonna be unique to you. Mine was podcast, healing center, online programs to help people be more empowered in their lives. And I know that's not proper branding, but whatever. I'm not gonna get lost on the nuances of that right now. So your soul has a mission that's something bigger. It's this sacred assignment that is straight from the divine. So if you think of yourself like a good undercover agent of light, you're only allowed to know a small part of your mission at any given time. So it can kind of feel a little bit frustrating because you do feel like you're playing a game of cat and mouse where you're chasing something and then you think you have it, but then you don't have it all of the way. But the chase is where you learned the skill to do do something. So, podcasting, when I first started it, um, I think it was two or three years ago. Oh, I think I think I'm on my 30 year anniversary, am I? Two years. I don't know. I'll have to celebrate. Um, but I launched it right before I went to Tony Robbins a couple years ago. And it hasn't been an easy journey for us because one, I had to learn technology. And in the beginning of my podcast, I just kind of started doing it off the cuff and and trying to present people with information around heartbreak. But then as I started evolving and seeing my soul's mission as, you know, something bigger than just helping people get through heartbreak, which I actually still think is part of it because I think heartbreak blocks us from our soul's mission, but I digress. Um, when you think about your soul's mission and like my mission, it was, oh, well, you learned a lot of technology. You learned how to do editing, you learned how to um create content. And then I went and complicated it. And I took like a branding class, and so I just stopped doing the podcast for a while because I was like, oh, well, now it now I have to do it as branding. Instead of realizing that it wasn't branding, it was always just educating and sharing stories of you know, failures of transformation, of people's heroic journeys, just being human. And I lost touch with that and and got stuck on branding and then had to come back and go, this isn't about branding. This is about connecting with people and waking them up to who they were meant to be. And as soon as I step into that energy, it's just easy to get back to podcasting. And because it feels aligned. So I want you to think about yourself like an undercover agent of light. We're gonna have a little bit of fun. You know, you can put your black trench coat on, you can put your little hat on and your glasses. And I want you to know right now, without a doubt, that if you're listening to this, and yes, I'm talking to you, you right now, you're part of the divine order of light. You are here to co-create a new way of being on earth. Like it's not some other place we're going, it's here right now. And that was the message that I kept getting was everyone thinks that it's someplace we'll go later. And actually it's here right now. This is like our new heaven on earth as soon as we shift our consciousness. As soon as you shift your I hate it when I say it, like when people say this, but it's when you shift your frequency, you literally become like you, it's almost like there's this quantum reality, and when you shift your frequency, all of a sudden you're on the new planet, but like you haven't actually left and gone anywhere. Your body's still right here. And I'm not talking about like you're not allowed to be angry, you're not allowed to be afraid or sad or those things, because all of the feelings are there, but it's more of just this like frequency of energy inside of you that mostly resonates with the frequency of joy and love and also everything that's you. And it's almost like just this deep resonance with your higher self and your soul, saying, Yes, I'm imperfect, I'm perfect, and I'm exactly as I should be. And I think that's the frequency. Yes, it is in unconditional love or above. And unconditional love doesn't mean being this perfect being. It means being in your in your shit, sorry, if you have kids around, you know, and then also holding space for everyone else to be in their shit, and also still striving to be in alignment with your soul's mission and purpose in life. A lot of acceptance and radical responsibility for everything that's happening in your reality. That was really hard for me as someone who had a lot of people attack me. And I had to finally hear what my intuition was saying, which was, yes, you were attacked, and yes, you also need to take radical responsibility for the way your life is right now. Not to say that maybe you created it, but because who else is going to clean it up? You know, if there's a hurricane in Florida, the people who endured the hurricane and the houses that fell down and the things that happened have to clean it up. And who you become through the cleanup is the process of transformation. It's just taking responsibility for things in your life and saying, yeah, maybe somebody hurt me and that was part of their wound or whatever it was, but I'm still responsible for cleaning it up. And when you start taking responsibility for the things that aren't going well in your life, suddenly your frequency changes. And when you think about that mission, your 007 secret mission, soul self, and you know that you have a part of a bigger movement that's happening, what comes in to your mind? Into your mind, you you probably have something that just popped into your head. Because your soul has a mission, and so does mine. My soul's mission is to wake you up and to help you complete yours. Because this is not this process of awakening isn't a one-time event, it's a process. And literally over the last five years, I was like, cool, can we be done with that now? And it was like, nope, you're still evolving, you're still awakening, you still have unprocessed junk in your trunk that's preventing you from embodying your soul's mission on the planet. And I there was a period where I was just exhausted by it. And I'm like, I'm just kind of done. I think I'll go back. But it was almost like the bridge back was like severed and there was only one way forward. Because sometimes, like, I meet people and they'll be like, How did you keep going? Because you had a lot of trauma. Like, what made you keep going? And I was like, I it was like there was this invisible force that literally just would not let me turn back. And I'm sure I could have many, many times. But they it was almost like this. I believed in the invisible force more than I believed the lies of my past. And also I had a vision. And this, okay, this is gonna be this is funny because it turns out I'm not the only person who has this fear. I had this vision of like dying alone on my toilet, like because I couldn't get my body in shape, or you know, I never figured out how to like fall in love again and marry someone who would want to build a life with me, which is still on my choices list. But, you know, I've I kept having this vision of me being extremely obese, sickly looking, and like dying on my toilet, which is a funny thing because I'm like, I don't even know why that's it, but that's the thing that was I'm afraid of creating. And it's almost like, well, if you don't follow the light, that might be you, like Elvis, right? Like, and I was like, Well, I don't want my kids finding me dead on the toilet. Like that would be like the worst case scenario to me. And also just not being able to get off the toilet and then like having to call for help. Like, what does that look like one day? And and like those kinds of things kept me going. And then, you know, seeing my daughter and my son standing in front of me and me saying, I'll figure it out next year, and me being like 80, and then them being like, Yeah, mom, you keep saying that. And then I had this other vision of my daughter like extremely obese and smoking, like having a kid on her hip, and then being like, Yeah, mom, I'll figure it out next year. Um, or my son, you know, not pursuing his dream of being an artist, or you know, me not setting a good example for them so that they'd also give up and don't follow their dreams. And that that is what kept me going was this honestly, this vision of me on the toilet. I'm not gonna lie. And then here I am sitting with a friend of mine yesterday, and we're talking, and she has this same fear of like dying pants down on the toilet and somebody finding her that way. And I was like, how is this a thing? Was this something from the 70s that maybe I missed, like culturally, that like that was embedded into us that that's a possibility? Because what is the likelihood of dying alone on a toilet? I digress. You have a mission. My mission is to make sure you also don't die alone on a toilet, and you know, thinking about what you could have done with your life. Now, here's where it kind of gets a little bit fun. So I want you to think about the universe's plan for the evolution of humanity as this big divine puzzle. And it's like this giant cosmic jigsaw puzzle. And every soul, every one of you, every person, especially you, who just said not me, carries a piece of it. Your unique mission, your gift, your light is a piece of the puzzle. And the big picture can't be completed without your piece. So when you think you're not important, when you think it doesn't matter, when you think I'll do it next year, that's your ego. Because the universe needs you to put your piece in the puzzle to activate, to remember who you are. Remember the Jason Bourne movies? That's what it feels like, where you wake up and you're like, oh, I don't know who I am anymore, and then you try to figure it out. That's kind of like the soul's path on on the planet Earth, where you forget your light, you forget that you are a divine being of infinite potential, and you settle for what society, what your ego, what your upbringing tells you to settle for. And I promise you, it's it's not even close to what your soul is calling you to. Now, this changes as you change and as you transform, this changes. Because maybe before your puzzle piece was to create a family system for your family that was so much more beautiful, maybe than the one you grew up in. Or maybe it was to be a great team player at your job, or maybe it's to write a book or do a painting. But maybe it's something bigger. And maybe once you completed that puzzle, you're invited to a bigger puzzle, a different puzzle. Most people's puzzle pieces are blocked behind the guardian of the mind, the unconscious protector that says, stay stay safe, stay small, don't risk it. So their light piece never reaches the big cosmic puzzle, and their mission never activates. Can you imagine that? I mean, to me, that's like dying alone on the toilet, never having fully activated my mission on planet Earth, and realizing that the people I came here to help and serve never put their piece in the puzzle because I didn't put mine in. And that's the vision that haunts me. And that's the one that gets me up at 3:30 in the morning to record a podcast because I had a deep resonance with the message and needed to get it out. And I want you to think about that for a minute. Activating your mission. Because the whole process of creation for the divine order of life for the universe can't fully evolve without you. And you really might think your peace doesn't matter, that you'd just rather like Netflix and chill. Um, but someone out there can't place their peace until your place, until you place yours. And your mission matters more than you know. And if you feel that in your gut, if your heart just kind of like activated, that means your soul is trying to break through and give you a message that for some reason you can't quite hear yet. Now, I'm gonna put a link down below to May Secret Podcast, which is the girlfriend's guide to spiritual awakening. It's where I get to have a little bit more fun. And I did this beautiful journey on it about awakening your spiritual CEO. So I'm gonna put the link down below. Sign up for it, go listen to the journey. It's it's where I saw the soul of Soma, like this beautiful angel. And she's like, hey, we're co-creating this together, my love. Just follow my lead. I've got the big picture, and you just need to trust me. And it was, it's like everyone that's been doing it has been giving me the same feedback, like they're seeing this beautiful evolution of you know what their soul came here to do. And I want you to have that experience too. Now, if you're not ready for all of that because you're in the middle of motherhood, that's okay. Because it's possible right now, that is your soul's mission. Because that is an exhausting journey, my friend. So if your fear is whispering to you or perhaps yelling at you, who am I to do this? I'm not qualified, I'm not ready, I'm not capable. Trust me, I get it. I get it. I've built and burned down and rebuilt my own dream many times. I created this thriving massage clinic and then um switched my focus over to the online industry. Decided I didn't love it and I like the brick and mortar, so I wanted to burn down the online thing. But my soul kept saying, No, you have to have a bigger impact. You have to be online. And then one dropped so the other one could grow. And then I had to go back and pick up the plate that was dropping. And it was a it was a lot of learning how to balance this bigger vision that my soul has. And in the beginning, it felt as if I had like a nine-month deadline. And then I started listening to other people like Vishnu Lakiani talk about how they brought their stuff in. And it was like, no, that's a decade-long process. You were not being realistic about timelines. And I think that's kind of where my intuition has really grown in its strength, is asking for realistic timelines. Like, hey, I still have laundry to do and the dishes are piling up. Can you give me some realistic timelines instead of putting this internal pressure, which is actually the ego, not higher self, on me to get this completed? So, and also have fun with it. Stop taking it so seriously. Like this is supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be a game of creating something from nothing that doesn't yet exist. And I I remember sitting in this five-day intuition conference and I was looking at these three very powerful creators, you know, Chris Duncan, William Whitecloud, and um Colette Stryker. And I just looked at them and I was like, how are you supposed to bring something into the world that doesn't yet exist? And they all gave me great advice, and I remember leaving feeling more terrified than ever. Um, but it was only because I didn't believe I was capable of doing that. And I just want to invite you over to my private podcast, and I want you to listen to the thing and let me know what you come up with. Because if your soul has a mission and you're feeling a little nudge right now, and you even found this podcast, because I'm crap at marketing and promoting it, that means your soul probably led you here. And I would listen because the divine storm of the spiritual spanking that you get when you don't listen, not so fun. So I would say, you know, just give it a little whirl and see what comes up for you. You'll know. And uh you'll know. Or you won't, but you know, either way, you'll at least have a little something in a spark inside of you. Like your little internal warrior of light is gonna wake up and go, Oh, I forgot who I was. And you're gonna start seeing your power, your creative flow coming back to you, which is really ultimately what I want to help you gain. So over the next couple of weeks, I am committing. Oh no, a social seven said she was committing to um outlining how the spiritual CEO shows up in all of the different Enneagram types, because that is also part of my soul's mission is to help people understand their strengths and their superpowers through the lens of the Enneagram. So uh buckle up, we're gonna do that over the next couple of weeks. It should be quite fun. And this time I'm actually gonna follow through, commit, and complete the project because I can sense that my inner seven of distraction is finally being tamed by the divine. I hope that you took something away from this. Follow me on social media. I might post, I might not post. Um, who knows? It's always a crapshoot with me. But I am trying to be more consistent with my social media posts and educating and inspiring people, hopefully, to start living in alignment with their soul's mission and also to bring their vision into reality, you know, co creating with the divine. So I'm Tabitha R. MacDonald on most social media. Media platforms. Other than that, let me know how this episode resonated with you. And if you wouldn't mind, take a moment to write a review because I have been seriously lacking in getting those. And it almost looks like my podcast is review list, but that's only because I haven't been asking. So if you wouldn't mind, leave a little review and uh expect some uh information on the Enneagram over the next couple weeks. And I really am just grateful for your time, your attention, and your energy. I know that there's a lot of places and things and distractions in the world calling your attention to them right now. And I just appreciate you giving me a little bit of attention on this your soul's mission attention. So it's not really me, I'm really just here. I'm just here is the messenger, my friend. With that, have a wonderful and beautiful day.
