Have you ever noticed how your body speaks to you, that nagging shoulder pain, the persistent headaches or the tightness in your chest? It's easy to dismiss them as random discomforts, but what if I told you that your body is whispering or oftentimes screaming a deeper truth. I've been a body worker and working in the wellness industry for oh my gosh, I think over 20 years now, and I will say that one of the most valuable lessons I learned was that pain is deeper than simply the place where you are experiencing it, simply the place where you are experiencing it. It is oftentimes postural misalignment, but when we start digging deeper, at chronic nagging pain, the body is an incredible messenger that is constantly communicating what our subconscious mind already knows. When we learn to listen, we unlock a powerful pathway to healing. Many times, what we do is we go after the symptom and not the root cause, and this is true whether or not it is a physical manifestation of pain because of, like I said, postural misalignment. This is true if it's a deeper, more emotionally rooted pain or if it's just a misalignment with our higher self and our purpose. We want to go beyond what we already know and really start to listen to the body. And what is it trying to tell us? So if you're somebody who has been struggling with chronic pain, like low back pain or neck pain or foot pain, whatever it is, and you haven't been able to resolve it, it's not that you're destined to live a life of pain. It's that the real root cause has yet to be identified. So I want you to just play with me for a moment, because if this is a new concept to you, I forget sometimes that this is what I do all day. So to me it's just normal, like this is the truth of it, because this is what I do. I do mind-body healing, and so to me it's very obvious.
Speaker 1:But then, as I was sitting there and I've been talking to my clients for a long time, I realized that not everybody has that understanding that that pain is simply a messenger that's asking you to pay attention to something that is amiss in your life. Pain is not just a biological reaction. It is an encoded message from your subconscious mind trying to get your attention. Every ache and tension carries emotional or energetic information. If ignored, these messages can get louder, manifesting as chronic pain or illness.
Speaker 1:I used to have horrible SI joint pain, low back pain, constantly hip pain, foot pain oh my gosh, I always had pain and I was so afraid of looking at my pain and actually asking it what it wanted that I just kept throwing things at it, creating more pain for myself. And, through the process of learning intuition and creating an end result that aligns with my purpose, I've been able to resolve pain and get answers so much faster than I used to. And I will say that probably one of the most common triggers for pain that is not recognized enough, in my opinion, is unprocessed emotion, and the body has a system for communicating to you when you are having feelings that maybe you haven't yet processed, that have been trapped in your body. As an intuitive and an empath and before I knew that's what I was doing sometimes when I'd be working on people, my body would hurt where their body hurt and I thought I was just experiencing a lot of pain. What I didn't realize was that my somatic intelligence was communicating to me where their pain was through my body, and I wish I had known this in the beginning of my career. It probably would have saved me so much pain of how to release other people's feelings from my body so that I didn't carry them with me. If you work in the healing arts, you need to learn how to do that. I have some meditations in my Soma Flow library of healing that help you do that at the end of the day, but it is really important and extremely important that we don't take other people's pain with us, but with our own unprocessed emotions. Sorry, that was just a side note. We can have unprocessed anger, sadness, fear and guilt in every emotion.
Speaker 1:Underneath those top tier categories that will create and manifest as physical pain in our body. That will create and manifest as physical pain in our body. The other top one is misalignment and that means when we're not living in sync with our values, our purpose and our truth, we can feel that as pain. And then another one is is when we have just energetic blocks, like if our chakra system is out of alignment. And we have just energetic blocks Like if our chakra system is out of alignment and we have these energetic blocks in our bodies, then that will create and manifest as physical pain as well. I love I studied Carolyn Miss's work on intuitive healing and she really hones in on the chakra system and how that can hold pain if we're not releasing it from the chakras.
Speaker 1:I know that a lot of people who've experienced body trauma will have a tremendous amount of pain in their sacrum area because of not only the physical manifestation of whatever the trauma was, but also the energetic imprint that that leaves in their energy system and the emotional imprint of feeling powerless against somebody else taking away your power. And I would say that that has probably been the one that has been hardest for me to work through, just because it was a deeper layer of pain and betrayal. But if we look at like even just the more, like slight nuances of emotional pain in the body, I would say that the low back sacrum hip area usually represents not feeling supported in your life. It could be either the people in your life not feeling supported by yourself. Were you not supporting yourself, not being supported by society or the world. Wherever you look for support, there's usually a lack of feeling supported in your life. So if you're currently experiencing some hip or low back pain, I encourage you to just simply ask the question where am I not feeling supported in my life and how can I create support in that area of my life?
Speaker 1:Throat tension can indicate unspoken truths. I do so much work on the tongue and the mouth. I could nerve on that for days. What I will say is that when I'm working on people who choke back their words a lot and I know there's a lot of you out there it could either be in your marriage, it could be at work, it could be with yourself, like where you're not actually telling yourself the truth about what you want in your life. That will manifest like physically as tension in the throat and the mouth because you're like choking back your truth.
Speaker 1:A lot of digestive issues could reflect difficulty digesting emotions or life experiences. I find a lot of Enneagram nines and ones with a lot of gut issues because they tend to repress and suppress their anger. So then it like literally manifests in gut health issues. So, and each Enneagram type always, you know, has their own flow of what they do with their emotional blocks. But that was just the one that I see the most often with digestive issues and I usually see people who have a lot of unprocessed anger in general with digestive issues.
Speaker 1:I remember when I was oh my gosh, in my 30s, late 20s, I had ulcerative proctitis Horrible, horrible experience. I will just say all of you suffering with ulcerative colitis or ulcerative proctitis. My heart is with you. It was horrible and now, looking back, I can see it was a huge manifestation of just repressed anger in my gut and also frustration of not being able to get the right answers, because the only option at the time was medicine that cost me, with insurance, $1,200 a month to manage the symptoms. Luckily, I followed my intuition back then, even before I was following my intuition, and I just changed my diet and lifestyle and it went away within three months and it hasn't resurfaced.
Speaker 1:So I will say that there's usually an answer. We just have to get quiet enough to hear it. So when I'm working with people, my top, my top priority, is teaching them how to listen to their own intuition, because your body is one of the best intuitive communicators that you have and if you're not listening to your body, you're turning off one of the most powerful intuitive receptors that you have access to. Now I get it Pain will make you not listen to your body because you don't want to be in your body. I lived a lot of my life wanting to be out of my body and I know that sounds strange, but if you're somebody who's had a lot of pain, like physical, emotional or mental trauma. You will understand exactly what I mean by that, and it was really probably the last four years where I've had to learn how to be fully in my body and to really connect with it and hear what it's trying to tell me instead of running from the messages Such a gift.
Speaker 1:I will say that, on the other side, having the library of tools that I have it is such a gift now. So I want to give you some tools on how to do that, because I think it's really important that you begin to understand it. There are some great books out there that really go in depth. The one that's coming to mind right now is the Sedona Method, and that is a great book to really help you understand how to communicate and tune into the body and release unprocessed feelings from the body. Exercises like Qigong, tai Chi they help move stuck emotions through the body. Obviously, I use Superconscious Recode, combined with body work and hypnotherapy, to help release emotions from the body. There are somatic practitioners out there who can walk you through a somatic experiencing process that will help you remove unprocessed emotions. The tools out there are vast and you can either find someone to help you do it, but you can also begin the process yourself. Probably the first thing you need to do, though, is become aware of what's happening in your body, and we do that using a body scan, so I'm going to walk you through that now.
Speaker 1:If you want to listen along, you don't have to go into a hypermeditative state to do this. You can do this anywhere, but if it's your first time, or if you're driving, I wouldn't, you know, maybe recommend doing it while you're driving. So you know, now that I'm like, more in flow with this, I can do this anywhere and just tap in and figure out what's going on. But, right for right now, I would say, if you're not, if you're not used to going into a meditative state, you can follow along and just listen along, and then come back and maybe, like, find a nice quiet space to do this when you have time to really focus. Okay, so, number one, we're going to start with this body scanning and awareness, so I'm going to ask you to find a quiet space, close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose and expand your belly and exhale, and now slowly scan your body from head to toe, noticing any areas of tension, pain or discomfort.
Speaker 1:You can use color. If color resonates with you, maybe give the areas of your body that feel nice and relaxed, nice golden color, and then have your unconscious mind light up any pain in the body that maybe you've not been paying attention to. And I'm just going to ask that it uses the color red and once you have that color, that that is lit up maybe it's in your hip or your neck or your foot to allow your unconscious mind to reveal it to you. Reveal it to you, hone in on that part of the body and just really put your full awareness without fear. Go into a space of curiosity. What is that sensation trying to tell you? Sensation trying to tell you and just breathe into it and if you're afraid or you're feeling anxious about it, just breathe in and know that you're completely safe. It's just a message. Be open to any words, emotions, images or memories. Sometimes it'll come through a smell or a visual picture. Just pay attention to what's coming through and I often like to sit down and just start writing. My body is trying to tell me and then just start writing. Good job, and you can use that technique anytime, like if you're starting to feel anxious or your neck really hurts. Don't be afraid to just take that moment and just breathe into it and say what is my body trying to tell me?
Speaker 1:You can often downregulate your pain signals simply by listening. So if you're like at a, you know, 50 out of 10 on the pain scale, doing this exercise can at least help bring that pain down so you can start listening and paying attention to it, because the fear of the unknown in our nervous system will create more pain. It's like it sets off this emergency signal where it's just going to get louder and louder, where it's just going to get louder and louder. Okay, so next we're going to talk about emotional mapping, and that is where we really want to identify where pain shows up in the body, kind of like we just did. But I want you to just really think about your body. Where do you have a lot of pain? Is it in your neck and shoulders? Is it your chest, your stomach and gut, your lower back? And think about your, like, neck and shoulder pain. Are there any burdens that you're carrying? Do you feel overly responsible for everything? Responsible for everything? And then I like to ask myself what would it take for me to feel supported and joyful? What would it take is one of my favorite questions, because it gets us out of the problem and it gets our mind to switch into more of a solution-focused mindset. So if you're having any chest and heart pain and please remember, none of this is a substitute for medical advice so if you are having a real medical issue, please go to see your medical professional immediately. This is just an additional tool to help. This is just an additional tool to help.
Speaker 1:Chest and heart are usually representing grief, loss and a lack of love for oneself. So if you're experiencing a lot of pressure in your chest all of the time, what grief is it that you haven't fully processed? Or is there a loss of something that is stuck in your chest? Maybe it's a dream. It doesn't always have to be romantic love. It doesn't always have to be a relationship. Sometimes it is I lost my business, or I lost faith in myself, or I lost my dream property. It could be whatever. It doesn't always have to be a heartbreak from another human being. And then, where am I not loving myself? Where am I still resisting, accepting who I am and really, really falling in love with that? That is my favorite tool for higher self therapy and I do have. I think I have some stuff on my YouTube If not, they will be coming soon about really connecting in with your higher self and purpose, because I would say higher self and understanding who you are Enneagram are two of the most powerful ways to get into a state of love, coherence with yourself.
Speaker 1:If you're having chronic stomach and gut issues, are you having fear? Is there fear like dictating your life? And you know there's a lot of change in the world right now and when there's a lot of change in the world, that can create a lot of unconscious fear patterns. So, if you're really feeling a lot of gut and stomach issues, like gut punched, where's fear governing your life right now? And then also you might have some unprocessed trauma or anger, rage and then also ask yourself where am I resisting change? Like if your higher self is coming in and creating some discomfort for you. Where are you resisting change? Where are you resisting growth in exchange for comfort? Lower back, financial stress that is a big one. Whenever I have clients come in with lower back pain, I'm thinking in the back of my mind is someone having a lot of low back pain because they're having financial worries? And you know that I think that I don't.
Speaker 1:I don't think I realized until the other night, when I was at a financial summit, that how bad 2020 and COVID was Like. It's one of those things where you're like you kind of get to the other side and you're like, whew, got through that, let's keep going. And then you're going why isn't everything the same as it used to be? And to, looking back, being at this summit and talking about the economic impact that COVID had was equal to and don't quote me on this, because I don't have the statistics in front of me but I believe what he said was it was about the same as a degree somewhat similar to the Great Depression and the financial impact that it had on the planet. And I thought to myself, wow, have we actually stopped to really appreciate the fact that that's the impact that it had on the planet? And I thought to myself, wow, have we actually stopped to really appreciate the fact that that's the impact that it had? I know we were also focused on getting out of it, but it was validating, so I really felt that that was validating.
Speaker 1:To just kind of look and go. Well, of course, everyone was struggling, unless you owned Amazon, but everyone was struggling after COVID. A lot of small business owners and independents really struggled to keep their businesses alive during that period. So, lower back pain, financial stress. Where are you worried about money right now and what would it take for you to create financial stability? What would it take for you to feel supported financially or supported in other areas of your life? Maybe it has to do with you know, taking care of your family or work. Maybe you have management that's not. That's not supportive in your work environment. What is it that? Where is it that you're not feeling supported in your life?
Speaker 1:In your life, keep a journal and write down your thoughts. Don't do it in your head. You've got to do it pen to paper, the old-fashioned way. It is one of the ways that your unconscious mind communicates with you pen to paper, and it is so important that you learn how to write it out, because we can't process this all in our head. We do need to be able to look at it, and I love it when I'm working with my clients and they say, oh, I was looking at my journal from last year and I can't even believe the changes I've made. I don't even think that way anymore and it's such a validating thing to go back and look at the old journals to see your growth and to see how much you've evolved and changed in a really positive way. Because sometimes, as you're going through the process of growth, you don't always know that you've changed because you're just now the new you. So when you're really struggling and thinking, oh, nothing that I'm doing is working, you can go pick up an old journal and go, wow, everything I'm doing is working. I actually like myself now. I actually enjoy taking care of my body. I actually, you know, am aligned with my purpose and who I am. It's going to be really mind blowing in a year or two to look back at those old journals and see the stories have changed.
Speaker 1:Okay, so number three. So we've talked about body scanning, emotional mapping and now we're going to talk about asking your pain for guidance. So you can put your hand over the part of your body that hurts Maybe it's your knee and just say what do you need me to know? And listen. Most people will question their intuition. It's totally normal. So if that's you, not a problem, it's totally normal. Even trained intuitives like myself, I question it all of the time. That's why I like having intuition circles? Because it's very validating to get you know, especially as you're learning to get that feedback from other people when they say, actually no, this is what I'm getting and, like you know, having three other people get the same thing. It's just validating in the beginning so that you do understand how to build that muscle. So put your hand on that part of your body and say what do you need me to know? And then pay attention to any subtle messages. It could come through a thought, an emotion, a sudden insight. You might see something, hear something, smell something. It all depends on you. You might have a memory pop up in your mind Don't dismiss it. Like you might see someone else tripping and falling on their knee and that might be the way that your unconscious mind is telling you how it perceives the pain there. So and then journal about it and trust whatever comes up. I personally like automatic writing. It is my favorite tool because I can just go into flow state and then come back and read it later and then process the intuitive guidance that came in that way.
Speaker 1:Number four energy release work through breath and movement. I love breath work. I do it probably every day. I love soma breath work on Mindvalley. I know there's so many different types of breath work. The easiest and simplest one is just five by five box breath and that's five in hold five, release for five, hold for five and then just keep that pattern up. That is the easiest one. You don't need a guided meditation to do it. Anyone can do it anywhere, anytime. The important thing to know about breath work is that you're breathing into your belly and holding it and then releasing it through your mouth and breathing in through your nose as well.
Speaker 1:Ecstatic, dancing, stretching, moving in ways that feel freeing. Like I said before, I love Qigong for this. It really helps move stuck emotions. There's a ton of free videos on YouTube, which means none of us have any excuses for not doing this, because the available resources that are free of charge are just amazing and astounding. And then I want you to just notice how movement shifts your emotional state and your physical sensations. I know that, like I'm doing Orange Theory about four or five days a week right now because I love it, and the days I have to take a rest day, I almost feel like worse because I haven't had that chance to really connect with my body and move the emotions out. But because it's an intense workout, you really shouldn't be doing it seven days a week, or at least not where I'm at in the stage of my fitness journey. So when we look at that, then I have to come up with alternative ways, and that's where you know qigong, tai chi, going for a walk. Other ways of releasing emotions from my body are the other types of exercises that I have to incorporate and it feels good, like it feels good, to just let it out of your body.
Speaker 1:Number five releasing through sound and expression. If your pain could speak, what would it say? Write it out in a journal. You can do a perceptual shift meditation and there's one that I use in the tribe, where it's the three chairs technique. I'm not sure if it's on like YouTube. It's a classic NLP technique. You basically put your pain in the chair across from you and just notice what it looks like and what is you know? Does it look like a person? Does it look like energy? Does it look like a body part? What does it look like to you? And then, so that's chair number two. You sit down in chair number one and then go sit down in chair number two the perception of pain and look back at you. What do you look like to pain? What is it like? What does it see you as? Does it see you as a child? Does it see you as old? Does it see you as young? What does pain see in you? And then, in the third chair, you're going to just have your higher consciousness, your super conscious, come in and eliminate the need to know how things should be. You go into a state of curiosity and then you decide there where things need to shift, what is holding back a resolution to the issue?
Speaker 1:I love that technique. I use it for so many things. I use it for a lot of shadow work, like if there's a trapped emotion I can't shift or someone I haven't been able to fully forgive for a past hurt or trauma. I use this technique almost daily for a lot of the things that I'm stuck on, because it gives you a new perspective and then it also helps you see how is my unconscious mind perceiving this situation or this person. I also really enjoy sound healing. I have sound healing frequencies on the background everywhere I go all of the time. There's this mainstream Reiki channel on YouTube. Her name's Andrea. She has so many amazing Reiki videos on there. I keep that on in my house all of the time. She has one for pets and she has one for healing the body. She has clearing your space. I mean, they're just amazing. It really does help keep your vibration in your home at that higher vibrational frequency that is above pain.
Speaker 1:You can also hum, chant or sigh to move stuck energy out of your body. I know sometimes and this is going to sound weird but like I'll like growl a little bit if I'm really frustrated at Orange Theory, because like I have like a feeling that's coming up about my own progress and when I growl a little bit like I feel a lot stronger and it's a strange thing I can't believe. I just admitted that out loud. But there we go. Also, I remember like when we were at Tony Robbins and we were processing through probably one of our biggest fears and hurts, he had us do a primal scream from our core, like our gut, and there was something so profoundly life-changing when you scream in a room of like 10 to 14,000 people and you're just letting it out of your body. It was extremely transformative. I choose not to do that around my house because you know I live in a townhouse, so. But you can do quieter things as well, like humming, chanting, singing, sighing is a great way to do it and, you know, just find the one that works for you.
Speaker 1:Express your emotions in a healthy way. So if you're really having a lot of feelings that you don't know how to process through, I have friends I'll call and I'll say I'm having all of these feelings, they're confusing me. I just need someone to help me figure it out and listen with an open mind, and then you can just kind of put that pre-frame there so they know you're not like emotionally vomiting on them. Get their permission and then talk it out, work it out. I also cry now a lot, like not in a bad way, but like if I have old pain that comes up and I'll cry it out and let it go. I have also been known to scream into a pillow.
Speaker 1:But really being more proactive with those feelings instead of storing them up for later. Because guess what happens when you store them up for later? At some point they need to leave your body or they're going to create sickness. And I will say that, as I've learned how to process through feelings faster, feelings faster, I don't store them up with illness anymore. I'm so much healthier all of the time than I used to be and I don't get sick as often. And when I do get sick, it's very short-lived, normally, like my body just heals so much quicker. And since I had a lot of trauma that I had to process through, even the weight I was carrying around was basically these unprocessed emotions that were trying to protect me from predators. Right, that's just what the body does. And as I've been letting the weight go, losing weight, I'm feeling all of those unprocessed emotions like needing to be released, and I'm so grateful I have these tools, because it's not always pleasant and having a huge tool basket makes it better.
Speaker 1:So listening is a powerful healing ability. By the way, I know when clients come in and one of the first things they say to me is thank you for taking the time to actually listen to me. And I'm thinking, like who have you been seeing before? Like that's what we do as healers is I'm listening. I'm listening to what you're saying. I'm also listening to what your higher self is telling me, and I'm listening to your body and I'm listening. I'm listening to what you're saying. I'm also listening to what your higher self is telling me, and I'm listening to your body and I'm listening to your feelings. I'm listening to everything about you so that I can fully understand what your experience of the world is.
Speaker 1:Because what I think can be frustrating is when your experience of the world has been one of pain for a very long time. Yes, we want to create an end result for you where you feel good in your body, you trust your body, but I also want to remind you that there is a process of allowing your unconscious mind and your ego, your conscious mind and your super conscious, to work together. And when the ego has lived in pain for a very long time, sometimes it can put up a pretty big fight to feeling good in your body, to being in a body that feels healthy and strong. And we want to work with where your current reality is right. We don't want to say, oh, by next Friday you should be feeling great all of the time.
Speaker 1:We do have to have this moment of where are you now and what is it going to take to get you there? Is this a spiritual, energetic thing? Is it physical? Is it emotional? Is there mental components like and I'm talking about parts that are holding onto the pain and how can we get you there at a pace that works for your identity? And that's important that you just remember that, because some people heal faster than others and it doesn't mean that they're better at anything, it just means that they didn't have as much resistance in their identity, like their identity was easily and effortlessly able to go there With things like, you know, self-hypnosis, meditation visualization, meditation visualization recode and so many other tools. That stuff makes it faster to embody and be and to just be a person who lives in a healthy, strong body that moves easily, freely and flexibly.
Speaker 1:So with that, I just want to say that I'm really excited to have my podcast back. I was sitting in meditation today and I was going over purpose and I just kept hearing like it's time to bring your podcast back. I went through my own little self-sabotage not self-sabotage, but it was my own fear of my own voice and being heard process over the last couple of months that I worked through and this morning when I woke up I was like I'm really, why don't I have my podcast back up? I love my podcast and so I'm really excited to be recording again and educating people about their intuition, aligning with all aspects of themselves the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful, the highest, the highest potential, our shadow parts, all of it.
Speaker 1:We don't want to be afraid of any aspect of ourselves because it's all part of us, and the more we can embrace ourselves as a whole and not think that there's something wrong with us, and knowing that you're perfect exactly as you are. We just want to create more love, flow and freedom in our lives, when we can understand that it creates this space for us to just be human. But the gift is is it creates space for everybody around us to just be human too, and in that mindset, life is so much more beautiful. I also want to just remind you that when we stop resisting pain and just start listening, it transforms from an enemy to a guide and, instead of numbing the discomfort, we can learn to decode its wisdom and make empowered changes in our lives from our intuition and not handing our power over to other people who might not know the right answer for us.
Speaker 1:Your body is not betraying you. It's speaking to you. The more you honor its messages, the more aligned, intuitive and vibrant you become. And who wouldn't like to be more vibrant and energetic. So today I want you to do one thing check in and ask what is my body trying to tell me? Where am I out of alignment and how can I honor my body's wisdom today? Healing starts with awareness. When you listen, you open the door to deep transformation. Your body is very wise. Are you ready to listen?
